Stonewater Veterinary Hospital

Vaccine Policy

Rabies:
We require Rabies to be up to date for all patients at our hospital for appointments, dropping off, and surgeries. Rabies can only be given by a licensed veterinarian. Your pet will receive a Rabies Vaccine during your appointment if overdue.

Distemper/Parvo (DHPP), Leptospirosis, and Bordetella for dogs:
Rhinotracheitis/Calici/Panleukopenia (FVRCP) for all cats and Leukemia in cats under 2 years old:
We do not recognize vaccines given from non-medical facilities as proof of COMPLETE vaccination. This would include breeder and home given vaccines. In the event you schedule a drop off appointment or a surgical procedure to stay in the hospital with our inpatients, we will need updated vaccines by a medical facility with a medical record documenting the vaccines given or will need to update the vaccines to decrease risk of exposure to these viruses to our inpatients. We can not guarantee vaccines were stored, prepared, or given appropriately when not given by medical professionals.  It is highly recommended but elective to have these updated for outpatient appointments.

Leukemia for cats 2 years old and older:
Influenza and Lyme for dogs:
These vaccines are non-core and are based on lifestyle and exposure in pets. These are not required and are recommended on an as-needed basis.
