Stonewater Veterinary Hospital is currently hiring for positions at our new privately owned small animal hospital in Clayton NC. We want to focus on hospital culture and make this a place where you look forward to coming to work each day! We are new start-up family-owned hospital to open March of 2022 with a big goal to put the experience of our employees at the forefront of how we operate. Of course, we want to practice high-quality medicine and provide first-class care to our clients and we expect that you do too. We want to be efficient and incorporate the tools and technology to do so as we can add it to the practice. We will have a no-tolerance policy for disrespect from clients.

Our hospital will have a fully equipped surgical suite, digital radiology suite, digital dental radiology, and an in-house diagnostic laboratory. We have a cloud-based paperless medical record system which allows texting, phone pay, checking out in the rooms, etc to streamline. We built a walk-up window at reception for ease. We have a spacious employee lounge and patio as you need to decompress on breaks to refresh. We laugh and try to have fun with this job as it can be really tough at times. Veterinary Assistant
Role Summary

The Veterinary Assistant (VA) is a client-facing, patient-handling role that reports directly to the Owner or the Practice Manager if present. The primary purpose of the VA is to assist the veterinarian and veterinary technician with exams, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures. The VA is also responsible for medical recording and for discussing treatment plans with clients. The VA should be able to employ low-stress patient handling for dogs and cats and should be knowledgeable about services offered by SVH.

Role Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate proficiently in verbal and written English
  • Maintain regular hygiene and punctuality
  • Must possess professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work in an environment with repetitive, loud animal noises such as barking, and repetitive, high-pitched tones such as alarms or machinery
  • Comply with all company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Patient restraint using low stress handling techniques
  • Medical record-keeping during doctor exams
  • Creation and presentation of treatment plans and estimates
  • Assisting technicians and doctors with diagnostics and treatments
  • Filling prescriptions
  • Cleaning and prepping surgery and dentistry suites between patients
  • Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments between cases
  • Husbandry of inpatients such as walking and feeding patients
  • Cleaning of cages and other facility needs
  • Stocking inventory
  • Additional job duties as assigned

Veterinary Technician

Role Summary
The Veterinary Technician (VT) is a client-facing, patient-handling role that reports directly to the Owner or the Practice Manager if present. The primary purpose of the VT is to perform treatments, diagnostics, patient care, and client education as ordered by the Veterinarian. The VT is also responsible for supervising assistants on their shift and for maintaining a high level of patient care. The VT should be able to employ low-stress patient handling for dogs and cats and should be knowledgeable about services offered by SVH. Seeking both licensed and non-licensed experienced VTs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Medical Math for Drug Calculations
  • Medical record-keeping during doctor exams
  • Peripheral Venipuncture for blood sampling and IV catheters
  • Knowledgeable of common medications and their associated risks and contraindications
  • Diagnostic Imaging for full body radiographs and dental radiographs
  • End-to-End case management for anesthesia, including induction, airway management, peri-operative monitoring, and recovery
  • Ability to triage walk-ins and emergencies on an as-needed basis
  • Knowledge of common reference lab panels
  • Additional duties as assigned

Client Services Representative
Role Summary
The Client Services Representative (CSR) is a non-patient handling, client-facing support staff position. The CSR reports directly to the Owner or the Practice Manager if present. The primary role of the CSR is to act as a liaison between our clients and our medical team. This involves answering phones, navigating clients through the check-in and check-out process during scheduled and non-scheduled appointments. The CSR manages our appointment schedule and adheres to practice guidelines for scheduling. The CSR direct email communications to the proper channels and responds to client requests via email, text, and phone. The CSR manages all medical record transfers, insurance claims, and is responsible for end-of-day financial report processing. The CSR is responsible for completing opening, closing, daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answer phones and fulfill requests
  • Monitor, forward, and respond to emails
  • Greet clients when arriving for appointments
  • Close client invoices at the end of each appointment and take payments via cash, card, or payment plans
  • Manage appointment schedule according to SVH scheduling guidelines
  • Create new client and patient medical records in Cornerstone
  • Fulfill medical record requests and facilitate prescription requests
  • Process insurance claims
  • Process end of day finance reports and close out cash box daily
  • Facilitate client visits during QOL/EOL (Quality of Life/End of Life) visits
  • Maintain a pleasant, organized, tidy, and clean lobby and reception station
  • Confirm future appointments and facilitate non-medical client follow-ups
  • Create SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)

Groomer
Role Summary
The Groomer is a client-facing, patient-handling role that reports directly to the Owner or the Practice Manager if present. The primary purpose of the Groomer is to perform various grooming duties necessary to improve pets’ hygiene and enhance their physical appearance to include bathing animals of various sizes and temperaments, trimming, clipping, shaving, or brushing, and removing matted hair, clean their teeth and ears, as well as trim their nails. The Groomer should be able to employ low-stress patient handling for dogs and cats and should be knowledgeable about services offered by SVH. The Groomer should also be able to ensure that grooming tools and equipment are in good working condition. To be successful as a pet groomer, you should be able to comply with pet owners’ instructions as well as accommodate any special requests that they may have. Ultimately, a top-notch Groomer will treat all animals with the utmost love and care.

Role Requirements

  • Must possess professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work in an environment with repetitive, loud animal noises such as barking and blow dryers, and repetitive, high-pitched tones such as alarms or machinery
  • Comply with all company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Certification through the National Dog Groomer Association of America is advantageous
  • Proven professional grooming experience
  • Sound understanding of animal behavior
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time
  • The ability to treat all animals with compassion
  • The ability to lift heavy pets and equipment

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Dematting and detangling hair as required
  • Bathing, conditioning, and drying pets
  • Trimming pets’ nails, brushing their teeth, and cleaning their ears
  • Grooming and styling pets according to pet owners’ instructions or standard grooming styles
  • Accommodating special requests that pet owners may have
  • Identifying health issues in pets, such as ear infections, skin conditions, or tooth decay, and informing pet owners and medical staff at SVH of these observations
  • Ensuring that all pets are safe during the grooming process and use low stress handling techniques
  • Routinely cleaning work areas
  • Recommending suitable products to pet owners
